The Mail on Sunday: “Tried and Tested”
“…produces plenty of compost, quickly. It is clever, using gravity to feed developing compost through a series of chambers, and fresh compost is supplied ‘as if by magic’ from the lower door.”

Garden Answers magazine: Long term test.
“The Earthmaker is very easy to use, it is at a good height and keeps things tidy. I think it would be perfect for someone….who doesn’t have the room for a large compost heap.”

The Guardian: “Six of the best report”

“The beauty of this bin is that the ready compost is separated from the less decomposed material, so it is easier to get the material out.”   “It looks complicated but is an interesting design that has an in-built way to aerate the material.”
  • Alan Fielding - Environmental Education Officer, Palmerston North City Council, New Zealand said "It is my personal and professional belief that the Earthmaker is the ultimate composter. I say this with 50 years of gardening and composting experience, an academic background in horticulture and considerable experience of over 50 of the world's composter technologies.
"Earthmakers excel in the fact that they are: continuous cycle, self turning, successfully aerobic, large in volume, quick acting, able to cope with a very high proportion of lawn clippings and easy to use. Its clever design makes the Earthmaker the perfect composter for elderly and disabled people.

  • The report on a Field trial of Earthmaker carried out by Palmerston North City Council concluded: "the Earthmaker was reliable, acceptable and capable of significantly reducing the volume of organic waste on domestic sites. On average, one Earthmaker 'digested' around 1100 litres of mixed garden and kitchen waste per year and generated 225 litres of compost returned to the garden per year."
"Overall, the Earthmaker worked well in different garden situations and was found easy to use, especially by elderly and disabled people. People were extremely pleased with the quality of compost."
USER’S COMMENTS

David & Janet Lucas of KempsfordVery quick and efficent delivery service. The assembly instructions were very easy to follow and the earthmaker went together without any hassle. Now it is part of our every day life as we compost almost everything eggshells, raw veg peelings, fruit, teabags, coffee grinds, shredded paper and not forgetting the garden waste, thus resulting in natural compost to use back in the garden. So in doing this it also helps to cut down on rubbish going to landfil sites. This is an excellant piece of garden equipment.”

Rodney Tibbs : “I set up my Earthmaker on May 27th of this year and on August 19th I collected my first batch of excellent compost. I make this 13 weeks from start to finish which may be of interest to those who ask "How long does it take?" Clearly this was a period which included some very hot weather and generally warm temperatures so it must represent the speedy end of the operation. I have found the Earthmaker easy to operate providing the material used is well chopped up. It was also relatively easy to put together”

Sue Nicholas of Welford: “ This easy to assemble composter replaced an ugly home-built one and is so much cleaner and attractive. It took me a bit of time to recognise that compostibles should be layered and not put in in great lumps but the resulting compost comes much quicker than our old method and is good quality”

Deb Stokes and Jonathan Dick from Wellington:About a year ago, we were inspired by TV3's show 'Wasted' to start thinking about ways to reduce our rubbish & recycle. We came across Earthmaker whilst doing some net research into composting, and liked what we read on the site, it just seemed to make sense how they did it. We duly purchased an Earthmaker kit and quickly got it set up and going (assembly was simplicity itself). The results were noticeable straight away. Prior to starting up with Earthmaker, we had at least two bags of household rubbish going out for collection each week. This is now down to one every week, and some weeks there are none. That's 52 less bags of rubbish to the landfill! Everything than can go into the Earthmaker does, and what can go in is surprising. Not just the usual fruit & veggie waste, but some papers, eggshells, tea bags and coffee grinds. It can also happily swallow two to three full catchers of lawn clippings. The organic waste breaks down quickly & efficiently, and following the instructions to keep it cycling over work really well. We are extremely happy with our Earthmaker, and would unhesitatingly recommend it to anyone.”

Roseanne Coyne from Stanley:We set up the 'earthmaker' late last year and filled it with scraps of everything. A week ago we checked it and found an excellent supply of compost ready for the garden. We can certainly recommend this composter.”
Adrienne Register of Epping: “Just bought the earthmaker I learnt about it from Magazines , googled compost tumblers and asked brother who has one for final recommendation It arrived in good condition, assembly guide easy to use, assembled easily; easy to start; great design”
